Creative Commons in Bangladeshi Jurisdiction
Once completed, these licenses will provide a flexible range of protections and freedoms for Bangladeshi authors, artists, and educators. It has been built upon the "all rights reserved" concept of traditional copyright to offer a voluntary "some rights reserved" approach. We expect that CC will help promote a new copyright culture in the country and that CC licenses will act as an important promotional tool to help widely disseminate Bangladeshi culture and knowledge and offer a reasonable path for protecting intellectual property.BLUA at BCS Computer Show 2006
BLUA and Ubuntu Bangladesh participated at BCS Computer Show 2006, which was held between September 17, 2006 to September 23, 2006. Organised by the Government of Bangladesh's Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology and Bangladesh Computer Samity, this year's fair had 85 stalls and 26 pavilions exhibiting new cutting edge computer technologies.
On our 300 square feet pavilion, 1178 school-going students were taught how to use Edubuntu Linux. 9000+ leaflets were distributed between visitors which had detailed information on Linux and FOSS, with special emphasis on Ubuntu. 250 Ubuntu CDs and 150 Edubuntu CDs were also distributed. A competition was held on the last day of the show, where 50 students participated.
We also organised two seminars during the show, titled "Free and Open Source Software: Developement Opportunities" on Septerber 18th where our co-founder Mr. Russell John delivered key-note speech, and "ICT for Developement: Prospects of Telecenters in Bangladesh" on September 20th where our member Mr. Nazrul Islam delivered his key-note speech. A good number of audience were present on both the seminars.
